why won't my sims 2 game start?

-it will load through the intro then when it reaches the neighborhood screen it will close
-it isn't a downloaded version..its installed on my computer from the disc
-its the sims 2 double deluxe
-i used the sims 2 custom content manager and it still doesn't work

~~is it because of all the custom content?
