why wont my ps3 pick up my bluetooth signal?

im trying to use it as a headset for my ps3

im not sure what kind of bluetooth it is... its my stepdads.. and its been on charger for 2days now so itcant be dead...imalso pretty sure its not broken because i can push a button on it an lights upblue....pleasehelp
