Why won't my ps2(slim) read discs in one room but will read them in another room?

My brother and I have two ps2s. And at first, I assumed mine just broke. I switched ours to find that it still wouldn't read any discs. So I decided to try playing one of his games to see if it would read his, so I took both ps2s into his room. Not only did they both read his games, they read my games in his room as well! I must've ran back and forth from our rooms ten times until i realized that it just wouldnt read any of the games or dvds in my room. It won't even begin to spin the discs in the ps2 in my room. Our rooms are side by side, and the only difference I can think of from our rooms is that i have an xbox360 and a wii (which both work perfectly fine in my room). I can't imagine what my room has that won't allow any ps2 to read any discs.
I've tried unplugging everything except for my tv, switching outlets and even turning on ( and off)my fan to cool or heat the room.

So you have a PS2 in your room, that will not play any discs. But when you bring your PS2 into your brother's room, it plays everything? Hmm . . . . Maybe there's a problem in your room's electrical wiring. Have you tried plugging in your 360 into the same outlet that you hooked your PS2 with? Maybe if the 360 doesn't work then, but works in a different outlet, maybe it'll work. Or you just have too many things on at the same time. Do you have your 360 and Wii on the same time while playing the PS3?
