Why won't my playstation 3 read my games and dvd's?

When i insert a game it reads on the screen that it is loading....continuingly loading. does not stop loading? HELP! PLS!
 
did you get insurance for it if not buy the same type of ps3 then return the old one easy
 
Did you recently update your PS3? I had the same problem with mine. some Sony updates cause the disc reading mechanism to fail. the only thing you can do is wait for a newer update to see if that will fix it. otherwise, (as in my case) you will have to send it back to Sony to be fixed.
