why won't my phone read my SD memory card?

On my computer it says that i have to reformat the card but it will erase every file, and theyre all important so i can't do that..Also, when i put it in my phone (LG enV touch), my phone doesnt even read it and says "memory card not inserted"..how can i fix this without erasing my files? please help..thanks~~
