Why won't my jeep start?

I have a '94 Jeep Cherokee sport, 4.0 6 cyl. Out of the blue, when I turn the key, it does nothing. The accessories work, so the Battery is fine. I can Ground out the starter Solenoid and it will start, and the key will work sometimes. I thought it was the ignition switch, but I replaced it myself, and there is no change. If anyone knows something about this, please let me know. Thanks.
 
probably the solenoid is bad. By shorting it out, you effectively by pass the solenoid. So I would replace the starter solenoid.
