why wont my files play hellllllllllp

every time i download an mpeg file my windows mdia player and realplayer say the file is not supportedand i cant run them. why?

do i need a new media player ?

Possibly; what version are you running?

What kind of mpeg are you trying to play? Certain ones (i.e. DivX) require you to download a codec to decode it.

I have always used a very good player called GDivX 1.6 Build 5. Works very very good.

Search for it on the internet.

Good Luck.

Also MS MediaPlayer 6.4 is good, but 7.0 is a resource hog and twice as big a download.
