why wont my computer read my flash drive?

my flash drive will work on my laptop, but not my desktop. like it wont even show up on the desktop, my external reads fine, but the flash wont read at all???

it found it originally. said it needed software. i then looked online and there was none. and then i tried again, but it wont read
