If you have the manual it should talk about the error code it gives and what causes them. It sounRAB like something is broken or messed up. The only thing i can think of that might be a problem you can fix would be a dirty laser. You can get a cd player cleaner cd for about $5 that has little brushes on it that will dust off the laser lens, but that may or may not help. Contacting kenwood would also be recommended. They know alot more about their products than anyone else.
I hate to say it but it sounRAB broken - i think the chances cleaning the lens will fix everything are small - but worth a shot for a few bucks. Note: if the cd player was from a dusty, sandy, or otherwise dirty environment the chances the cleaning will work are greater.
