Why won't my button work properly in Flash CS3?

I'm using Actionscript 2.0. The button links to correct scene but whenever it is pressed it goes to the wrong frame. I'm using the code on(release)gotoAndPlay".......", 1. Using script aid so I know this coding is incorrect but the scene and frame number are the ones I want and it still goes to the wrong frame.
