Why won't my browser history delete?

I'm using Internet Explorer 8. Before, when I deleted my history it worked fine, but recently it's gone weird. When I try to delete it, the websites that I've been to recently do delete, but there is like a subheading underneath that says "History", and that won't delete. I went to the History Folder and deleted that, but to no result. I even tried reseting all the settings, but it still won't work. Is there a problem with the computer? What shall I do??

use the settings instead...
in tools, at the bottom is internet options, in the first tab "general' is a check box which reads 'delet browsing history on exit'. check that.
