Why won't my bluetooth work with the iPod adapter I just installed in my Chrysler?

I have a Chrysler Town and Country minivan and I have UConnect (bluetooth) which allows me to make and receive calls through the radio. I recently installed a Chrysler-made iPod adapter in my car. Before I installed the adapter, the UConnect worked fine - when I received or made a call it would interrupt the am/fm, the satellite, and the cd playback. Now, it still works with those things but not when the iPod is playing. Sometimes it will show the phone menu for a few seconds but then it will just go back to displaying and playing the iPod. I've tried going back to the Chrysler dealer and calling their corporate tech help and calling the company that made the adapter but I've gotten nowhere. Does anyone else have this same setup? Does anyone know why it doesn't work or if it's just not supposed to work?
