why wont my 1996 chevy truck go into reverse?

the transmission fluid is good, the truck wont go into reverse and i have to let off the gas for it to shift into second when i start driving.

once the truck shifts out of first gear is runs fine

when it idles i noticed there is sound that isnt normal and is kinda hard to explain
please help!
