I asked this question before, but no one answered so I guessed and handed it and didn`t do so well. I`m still confused can someone help me understand in case a similar question is in the exam. Thanks.

As a struggling molecular biology student, you realize you will be famous if you design a ``SuperSmart`` protein. This protein, if found in large quantities, is guaranteed to increase an organism`s IQ. You begin your design of this protein by cloning the gene necessary to make the ``SuperSmart`` protein. The sequence of the gene is found to be as follows:

TATTGACCGATCA

Briefly describe how the ``SuperSmart`` gene will be made into the ``SuperSmart `` protein.

in simple terms, assuming this gene had been transcribes then translated and then synthesizes into protein....
read more about splicing, polymerases, ligases and codon and anti-codon in your text.

good luck

It wouldn't. It would be a Supershort protein. The second codon is a stop codon. It's also lacking the start codon (ATG). Clearly no intelligent being would have designed something like that....

Stop condons TGA, TAG, TAA.

Start codon ATG.

Just remember DNA makes RNA makes protein. You need RNA polymerase, some ribosomes and a whole bunch of other proteins.
