My roommate brought a 42 inch, 1080p Sanyo TV for our room. It's model number is DP42849. He broke the original remote, so we bought a supposedly "universal" RCA remote, model number RCR312WR. We programmed the remote according to the instructions, and it can turn on the TV, raise or lower the volume, go to different channels, and generally accomplish the most basic functions. However, we need to navigate the TV's menus in order to scan for channels so we can get cable TV in our dorm, and while the remote can access the menu, it cannot navigate them; therefore, we can't change any settings or search for channels or anything.
I can't find anyone else who has had our same problem. Should we get a new remote? Do we need a better universal remote? Is there some trick out there that I'm not aware of? Am I just entirely screwed? Please help, and thanks in advance.
