Why when you talk to an immigration lawyer they ask where you found them or

their phone number? okay well i've been calling immigration lawyers for over 5 hours now...trying to pick the best one...but most of them ask "can i ask where you found us?" or "where did you get our telephone number?"
& i was wondering why do they ask that...does anyone know?
 
Any business, which includes law offices, must advertise or otherwise get the word out that they have a service to offer. It is helpful to businesses to know where people are finding them so they know where advertising is working or not working. The question has nothing to do with the immigration case. In fact, many different businesses, especially smaller ones, may ask the same questions.
