Tbh the audience for Fame will be in bed by the time Film 2009 is broadcast so it's hardly worth reviewing 
I don't think it's really "the BBC's film show" it's made by JR's production company, and I'd imagine simply covers what Ross wants to cover.
Mind you I'm not sure of the value of Cannes these days anyway. Mark Kermode rants that it has nothing to do with films these days, it's completely about media and hype, and he may well have a point.

It's become a very poor show indeed, just 30minutes and rather damp and pointless.
As for Surrogates it does not fare well on Rotten Tomatoes, usually a good guide.

I liked Norman's show. Funny how some people called it stale because it consisted largely of reviewing films, because compared to Ross's zombie-like show, Norman's was an erotic drunken orgy.
Norman was very informative; he gave you enough information to form your own opinion and make your choice whether to see said film. He did not review every film, and like Ross he sometimes did not review a film if he was interviewing the star of it that week. But he did pretty much cover the majority of films released.
Its kind of ridiculous, though, that a show meant to review the week's movie releases is only shown for about half the year (less than that these days; Ross' seasons are alot shorter than Norman's).
Kermode, I often disagree with, but he is hugely entertaining, watching him rant and rave would be great TV. He's shown on the Culture Show and Late Review that he can be measured and sensible.
