Why was pop art created?

My sister is doing an art project on "pop art" and needs to know why it was created, or such. If you could either list sites and/or summarize why, it would be much appreciated!
 
Pop art was created as a response to Elizabethan Art. Queen Elizabeth, who was the founder of the school of art that was named for her, once said, "Art must never pop; it should bloom." It was this quote which stimulated artists to conceive of Pop Art, which often incorporated a popping sound or visual effect.
