Why was Gino arrested for for his rat cooking incident?

How can anyone have a problem with that? Have the Australian police nothing better to do?
Yet it's perfectly ok to bite the head off of live insects for entertainment apparently.
It thought only the UK had gone mad. Now it appears it's gone global.
Ok, If it was someone's pet, then who let it loose in the jungle, which was full of predators and snakes? Are they saying it was released there in error or that it escaped from a cage? Is some little kid screaming wah wah you killed my little Roland? This is getting more weird by the minute!

I agree, it is stupid but if they are going to pursue this I think the television company should take full responsibility not Gino. They could have stopped this if they wanted to and should never have put someones pet rat in there in the first place.
If this is part of a jungle as they would have us believe, the so called pet could have been lost forever anyway!

It's ridiculous they've got to go all the way back to Australia to answer these charges.

If basic common sense prevailed the programme makers should have said "Oops!, we've set a pet rat loose in the jungle and we'd never guess that Gino would take a fancy to killing and eating it, never mind, it's not their fault, they weren't to know".

Then, all that needs to be done is to warn future contestants not to eat the rats.
The Aussie legal system is nothing more than a joke if they try to charge Gino and Stuart over this.

Apparently it was a pet rat which just goes to show that the true jungle experience is false for the celebs if they put pet rats in there instead of allowing the usual jungle critters to roam into camp!

In the eyes of the law insects are not classed as sentient beings.
There are loads of policies I think are stupid but the law is the law.
Gino will be fine...he's used to doing time! rofl

its absolutely ridiculous, but stuart and gino are being charged with animal cruelty, and have to go back to australia in febuary for the trial in court. the rat was actually someones pet, so thats the issue. they can get a maximum of 3 years each!!!

Because it was considered inhumane as the rat was a pet. Had it been a wild one then it seems it would have been ok. They felt that it was wrong to kill an animal for entertainment on tv. and that it would have been ok if one was in the wilds and starving of hunger. Yes..its a crazy world where people can get away with murdering another human but cant get away with killing an animal but the very idea of eating a rat makes me want to throw up!! I have now lost my respect for Gino!!

it was apparently a pet rat...
i thought the same seen as they were supposedly meant to be all wild
someone wants money i think, they said it wouldn't have been that easy to catch if it was wild!
