Why was Britannia High not as successful as it should have been?

I imagine Arlene Phillips and David Ian are more to blame than the proper writers, since the other writers have all written stuff that's at least popular, if not very good.

There were plenty of adverts shown for it before it aired.

It was in a very bad timeslot. 7pm on a Sunday is traditionally where dramas/soaps are shown. It should have been shown between the two X Factor shows, as it would have inherited a huge audience.

I also don't think it was good at all.

I'd hated it all along until the second last episode where I though 'hmmm....now it's getting interesting,' and then they just kinda fell flat on their face at the end of the last episode, it was just terrible.

Because you can't micro-manage something into a success. Something like this falls into place, you can't create it because it then loses its charm.

Ive just been in my mcolls and there selling britannia high photo carRAB didnt buy any though.

You know what id like too see brintannia high singstar! wHOOP would never happen though

Because it was on ITV1.

Because it was a rip-off.

Because it was shown on the wrong day and at the wrong time.

Because it was British and as a not-very-patriotic nation we prefer American imports over homegrown productions.

I watched the "making of" documentary of BH recently and they definitely tried to force everything too much. They expected instant success but this is rare. Things like High School Musical are rarities. For every success story in the market like HSM, there are twenty stories of failure.

LOL I actually don't like High School Musical, watched it once with the kiRAB and it didn't do much for me, couple of the songs get in your head and they did a show in Universal Studios in Florida that we stood and watched this year but nothing special for me with this one, not seen any of the sequals either

Have to wonder if all the people who are slagging Britannia off actually sat and watched each episode?? I can't see that they did so how can you make a judgement based even on just one week and if you did watch EVERY episode....WHY did you when it was so bad in your opinion, if I don't like something I switch off.

The television programme is a musical drama, with music written by Take That's Gary Barlow.

"I think there's life in Britannia High yet and obviously Gary's just had a baby girl and so we're getting together.

"I think we'll wait and see what happens. I don't think it's done and dusted."

In response to rumours surrounding the Strictly judges, including Phillips, getting the axe from Britannia High, she said: "The advice I took from Bruno Tonioli when he said to me 'Don't read a newspaper, carry on,' and that's what I do.

"Because if you open every newspaper and you see dramatic headlines, not because of what it is but because of what you've done, then it's best not to read it."

Charlie Brooker's review of BH on Screenwipe was hilarious - he ripped the dyslexia song to bits. For that alone, I wish the show was still on just to hear him complaining some more.

i guess your right, but its a shame they wont give it a 2nd chance, there is clearly a market for it, many of the clips on you tube have in excess if 50k hits

and for example, this clip has over 200,000 hits
