Why tyres used for racing bike flat ?

As per science for more friction the surface must be rough. But when it comes to tyre of a racing it is completly wrong.
Can u tell me the logic behind using plane tyres instead of the one with grip.
 
The more surface contact you have the more friction between the two surfaces. Look at drag racers, they use a completely tread less tires to get the most traction. Tread on tires is used to channel away water and provide grip on soft surfaces. You can't hydroplane on bicycles tires because of the small surface area so you don't need treads.

Grip is determined more by the tire compound.
 
A completely smooth tire will always have more surface contact and more grip on dry surfaces. In F1 racing depending on how wet it is they are always switching between different wet and dry tires depending on conditions. In deep water you need deep groves to channel the water out of the way or the whole vehicle hydroplanes/floats up on the water's surface where you lose all grip/steering and traction for putting power down, horses for courses..
