Why the Wii will win.

1. People who buy consoles don't care about graphics as much. Case in point: Consoles stay constant for 4-5 years. This is why people like them. After the one initial investment, there will be years of entertainment with minimal, if any, upgrades.

2. Wii has more third party support already than it had for the gamecube. The reason? The cell chip is hard to code for and it requires advanced equipment. The Wii however, brings something completely different to the table, which programmers (who think themselves creative) will be able to utilize to advance the gaming experience. So cheaper development + innovation = greater likelihood of support.

3. The Wii has the greatest chance to win this console war. Why you may ask? The Gamecube flopped. The difference is, the gamecube just had worse graphics than the XBOX and comparable to the PS2. If you already one of those systems, there was no reason to buy one another than offered nothing new to the table. That's the genius of Wii, it is RADICALLY different. People usually won't buy a PS3 and 360, but since the Wii is so cheap and DIFFERENT, people will buy it. That's what Nintendo recognizes. As other systems drop their prices, Wii will drop even faster. Reaching the $100 mark and having greater market appeal. Whereas the Gamecube offered the same (and less) the Wii offers something anew.

I agree 100%. People can keep their console wars and their xBox/PS3s, the genius of the Wii is that it's opening up a whole new segment of the market, namely those people who don't really game and who are attracted to the "fun" of the Wii. Those are the same people could care less about graphics, 1080i, HDMI, blu-ray and all that jazz of the 360 and PS3.
