Why the strong correlation between following sports and denying climate change?

I rarely watch sports, I don't deny climate change and I think anthropogenic global warming is a hypothesis at best.

"Denying" AGW doesn't mean you deny climate change or that you're incapable of being environmentally conscious. It merely points to a deserved consideration and respect for traditional science.

the instinct to compete does seem to be on prominent display on this site just as it is in spectator sports.
I guess the urge to see who can shout "I'm right & you're wrong" the loudest could conceivably be called a sport.
