It looks the donations to the Republican side will rocket high if this plan is passed now .
There is sense to this question . Why would Mr Bush be given a check of 700 billion dollars two months before crucial elections ? Aren't the Republicans practically going to sweep the elections if this plan passed in the Congress ? Why this situation wasn't avoided in the past by making controls over the banks ? Why now ?

"Why the bailout plan isn't discussed after the elections ? ?"

Your question makes absolutely no sense.

Actually, you'd be surprised how evenly financial institutions donate to both parties. There's no reason to tick off the Dems - especially with a lot of very ticked-off Senators in office right now.

Consider that Obama has received $9.9 million from securities/investment firms while McCain has only received $6.9 million from this group.

Besides, if a bailout helps these institutions at all, there still won't be any left over for additional donations. We're talking about stupid decisions that imperiled the survivability of these companies - and given the choice between fatbacking a favored candidate and staying in business, businesspeople will choose the latter.

McCain is voting for it too, not sure how that would help...

Although, i am sort of confused by the wording of your question

I agree! It has become the government's mess! Ah-hah! But who has to pay for it?! Why it is "We the People!" that's who!

Add to the fact that that some Wall Street insider "Boiler room" hacks are supporters of the two liberals. . . Oops. . . I mean the two candidates of the two major parties!

I also agree that the banks and financial institutes are equal distrtibuters of campaign funds toward both parties!

EDIT: I do agree with Triforce! Also add to the fact that we need to restructure, or completely do away with the "Fair Housing Act!" And outlaw adjustable mortgages!

We don't need a bailout, we need Fannie May and Freddy Mac to spiral downwards and go bankrupt. If they do pass the bill, then at least make sure that nobody but the population of the US 18+ years old gets it. There shouldn't be a bailout plan if the US is already in debt $9 trillion! And don't we owe China back the 10 billion we borrow from them every week? If this passes, the US will get screwed over even more by Barack Obama and his evil team of hunchbacked minions because of all the "sweetheart loans" he has received from May and Mac. The country is screwed up because of Fannie May and Freddy Mac's forcing the banks to to "low-interest loans" and whatnot, making them give non-affordable housing to low-income workers, the same workers who will get hit the hardest by this bailout plan >:(

You knwo what we need to do? Downsize the government and its programs, because that's what also has been costing us so much money, with their war on drugs for the last 30 years, only to cost ANOTHER 600 billion, jeez, get with the program, leaders! We need to stop government spending and get our troops home and defend our OWN borders until we can pay back China with the money that we wouldn't be paying for a war with.

Doesn't the constitution say that the foreign policy is supposed to be non-interventionist, yet we have more than 150 US military bases in the world? Why is that?

I doubt very much that donations to the Republican party will increase; they're not that popular now.

The bail-out plan can't wait til after the elections. Like it or not, the problem needs resolution now. Whoever is elected president will be inheriting an incredible mess.

We can't afford to wait, as it is whoever wins will have to suffer the consequences of this bailout and of every other decision made in the last 8 years, I'm glad its not me.
OBAMA 08

This crisis is not about politics, it is about our countries economic survival.

To wait will be too late.

The average American does not know how this will affect them, God forbid, until it is too late.

The American economy operates on borrowed money.

Not just individual Americans, but the businesses you work for and the businesses you personally do business with.

Republicans and Democrats, Democrats and Republicans better e-mail or call your Congressional Representatives and Senators and tell them to get it done, now.

Are you kidding? Have you read the plan. It is a bipartisan approach except for the complete lack of oversight. It would benefit people who live beyond their means and are losing their homes more than anybody. The banks/wall street is going under because the borrowers make bad decisions with their money inside of living frugally and paying their bills before splurging. Big business was urged to take a chance on people with low or bad credit scores to help them redeem themselves but the scores spoke for themselves and the banks are losing because of it.
