Why Suzuki?

I see quite a lot of C50, C90, etc. posts on here. Why? Is this just a Suzuki hangout or is there some reason why these bikes are better than the rest? In the car world, I favor Honda over Suzuki, but I'm sure that's apples & oranges.

Well, the Hayabusa is definately a show stopper, that's for sure.

My buddy rides an air-cooled Bandit and loves it. I think it's perfect for what it is.

But other Japanese makes have certain reputations Kawasaki = value & performance; Honda = reliability; BMW = distance; HD = raw. Just wondering if Suzuki has anything over the other brands.

If you compare Wave Runners, for example, the Honda's are way too expensive, the SeaDoo's are not reliable, and the Kawasaki's are cheap are ridiculously fast. So Kawasaki owns that segment.

I find it quite narrow-minded to look that way at a manufacturer who produces such a wide range of engines, chassis, and vehicles. You simply can't generalize like that.

Incidentally, Wave Runner is a brand name. Let's call them PWC. You're not looking so much at a brand as at a model lineup which shares engine and hull architecture. You can't extrapolate those reputations to motorcycles.

Yes, technically "Wave Runner" is a brand name. Like Kleenex ;). Although it might seem narrow-minded to categorize, that's what we all do when we start making comparisons to purchase a bike, a car, a PWC, whatever.

Interestingly, nobody has given me a compelling reason why they prefer Suzuki. I guess since that this started as a Suzuki forum, that explain it completely.

The answer to the original question was given in the first reply.

As for why any one of us chose a Suzuki - the reason is simple: Suzuki happens to make the model we prefer. No, most of us don't make that generalization. I shopped every major brand with equal interest, and of my last two choices, one was a Yamaha. Currently, I'm eyeing both a Honda and a Triumph. Don't assume we all have irrational brand loyalties. I assume most don't.

I still have this site saved in the favorites as Suzuki Forum. I think it took me about six months of lurking around before posting here.

Somebody mentioned BMW=distance.

I've been hearing some ugly (unsubstantiated) rumors that the newest[/] generation Beemer owners are holding on to them until their warranties run out and then dumping them. I can't back that up with fact or what have you. If anybody else wants to jump in on that statement feel free. I've heard it was the absolute newest iteration of the brand that has been problematic.

There again, it's only rumor, and I'm claiming I don't have proof, just wondering if anybody else has seen or heard about it?

I find your logic interesting...in a humorous way. On the west coast, Kawi does not own the market. I would honestly say it's pretty even. However, you describe several brands as "Wave Runner", but don't even mention Yamaha, who makes the real "Wave Runner". EVERY dealer I've talked to who carries multiple brands would prefer to sell SeeDoo's because it keeps their repair department busy, but would buy the Yamaha for their personal use because of their bulletproof motors and value for the dollar.

I didn't look to see where your from, but IN MY AREA, Kawi is a long way from owning that segment.
