i know that we need to improve it, but why? what is going to happen if we dont. im writting a paper on how to improve it but i want to be able to but why we need to. and now im truley curious because i cant find a website that will give me a good answer

Well I guess its kinda important since WE LIVE IN IT.

If your house had deadly gases and trash, and you started taking your possessions out of it- you would want to improve that, right?

Well, news flash- Earth is our home too. More of our home than our houses. We would not be alive without a decent Earth.

obviously we need to take care of the earth because we live in it
and its just going to get hotter of we dont take care of it
animals are probably going to become extinct because of global warming
and the trash we throw away goes to land fills and soon the whole earth is going to be full of trash
if you see africa, there are lots of trash there

The reason you can not find a web site with a good answer is because it is so controversial. First off we know that the polar ice caps are melting. We also know that ice melts because it gets warm. So they think that the reason the ice shelf is melting because it is getting warmer. Therefore they are pointing at the earth's protective atmosphere. They also know that there is a huge hole in this atmosphere and it is growing, it is now about the size of the U.S. and has been for about the past 30 years. Therefore they think we need to clean the air up. And they know that certain gases hold more heat than others and those gases are found in exhaust emissions from oil and coal. however, those same emissions can also be found in almost anything that burns, but they claim that only oil and coal puts off as much. So we need to burn less coal and oil.

Here is the problem with their theory that makes it hard to find a lot about who is right and who is not, Ice shelves may be hundreds of feet tall above the water, but they are at the same time there is only 10% of that ice above water the majority (90%) is below the water. Which means that not only the air is getting warmer but also the water itself. This makes some people think that it isn't the air that is bad but just the water. But those same people do not think about how warm water travels towards the cold, and that the waters in the tropical areas are getting warmer and thus are not cooling off as quickly as before as they travel.which allows the water where the poles are to become warmer and make the ice shelves start to melt.

Now that the ice shelves are melting, the ice that was above the water is now in the water. It is predicted that if the ice shelf in the North Pole disappears then all of Earth's oceans will gain 30-35 feet in height. (Because it can not go down any more, it can only come up). If that happens then the coast lines will be moved inward. In fact places like New York, Portland, Seattle, Miami, all of Florida's Keys, and many islands will simply be under water. Since 50% of the population live near the oceans if even a third of them would have to move due to the Ocean's rising then over 1,000,000.000 people would have to move. Entire cities could be lost. This will also make the planet a little less stable for maintaining life because the area we grow food in would now be covered with people.
Many city dwellers do not realize what they are doing to the earth. With them in the cities not growing their own food, and covering up green earth with concrete, steel and pavement which holds heat in. They are destroying the earth just by being city dwellers, and putting a hardship on farmers and other industries that have to try to meet the needs of these people who do there living in a city.
So, in conclusion the cities may actually be doing more harm than burning all the oil and coal. Because when you get rid of green to build a skyscraper or put in a road or make a walking path out of concrete, you take away from earths defenses. So, not only is burning oil and coal going to fix the problem, you have to make the people spread out and take care of the land instead of making cities larger and killing earth plant life to make room for people.
