I'm italian and I don't know exactly how it works in your country, but here, expecially in my city (Milan) almost everybody go to univeristy only because without a laurea (that's how we call the piece of paper University gives you when you finish the 3 or 5 years of your university studies) you're nobody! here you need a laurea to do everything, if you want to teach in a primary school or even in the kids school from 6 months to 3 years (we call it asilo nido), or to do jobs like touristic guide (need a laurea in artistic culture or at least in languages and litterary), even to work in a computer shop they often request a laurea in informatics or something... because there's so high percentual of laureated people, they know they can find someone better than you if you haven't got one!
this thing is different if you go far from big cities... in the country there are lots of mountainy towns in wich there are only few people who finishes high school, and at least 5 in an entire town with a laurea, so in that contest you can work without it...
In my personal opinion it's important to have a laurea only if you are really determined in your studies, if you chase a subject you really like and not give up in the middle of your studies (it would be a waste of time and money), but if you don't like study and think you can find a good job without going to university it's your choice... but I want you to be aware that with a laurea you would be able to have a lot of money in your subject (for example I'm studying law and my dream is to become a lawyer and open my own legal office to make a lot of money), instead if you haven't a study title you will probably be an employee for your whole life, and obiousively earn less than your employer... if you're aware of this and you like the idea not to earn a lot for your whole life, than make your decision... but think carefully about it because, to have a laurea don't give you the certainty to become millionaire, but not having it doesn't give you at least the poxibility to become rich...
