Why, rukia, why?

So I started watching Bleach again, and now I wonder, against the Hollow that almost killed her, why didnt she use Sode no Shirayuki?
 
Thats easy. First, she didn't really have the time to do so. She didn't think she'd need it and then she had no time to use it AND save Ichigo.

Besides, she obviously couldn't have used it anyway, since thats about the only character-development in Bleach: gaining/ showing off new powers.

Edit: theres a bleach-subforum btw^^
