Why Petrified Corn? Weird gift?

That is odd... I think you're supposed to use it as a decoration around October and November... you could put it in a cornucopia or something.
 
I got one ear corn , solid yellow, hard. In the mail what in the world am I suppose to do with this? (what am I suppose to think of this kind a gift?)
Ideas? Thanks

Have you found out who it's from? Maybe it's got some kind of disease or something carried with it? If you don't know who it is from, then trash it.
