Why pen tool in photoshop CS5 sticks at auto fill color?

I am using photoshop CS5 Extended on windows 7 ultimate, whenever I choose pen tool and start using it, it automatically fills the color. I want pen tool to make only designs and not auto filling of colors, plz help me.
