why non-renewable energy has been used so much until now?

non renewable energy was and is used because it's relatively easily obtainable and usable. There is history too. When engines were first invented they were built to accommodate non renewable resources and thus an infrastructure was built around these. Its hard to convert an entire infrastructure now that it is so largely supportive of non renewable resources.

technology has improved the efficiency of renewable generation devices such as solar panels and wind turbines. Also, the price of oil is rising as demand increases due to industrialization in other countries.
