Why no flips with a qwerty keyboard?

AT & T has sliders and candybar phones with full keyboards, but I want something that snaps shut. Something that keeps its big screen protected. Yeah, I know I can buy little holders and protectors... I know I can use a keylock to prevent the dreaded unintentional butt-dialing.

And yet... I want a clamshell or flip phone. With a qwerty.

Every other major carrier offers at least one cell with a qwerty that flips. Verizon has the Alias 2, Sprint has the Lotus... Why doesn't AT&T have anything?

I was surfing over at phonearena.com today. I was super excited when I saw that AT&T was going to add over a dozen new phones soon, and lots of them have qwerty keyboards. I was pretty disappointed when I realized that not one of them is a flip. They're all just sliders or whatever. More of the same. Bitter, bitter, bitter.

So I'm beginning to think that AT&T isn't putting out a flip-qwerty phone for a reason.

I just don't know what it is.

If you do, please tell me... Maybe I should just switch carriers already. :(

check out Samsung's Alias 2 with Verizon. It flips vertically and horizontally. The number keys automatically change to a Qwerty keyboard when you flip it horizontally (a process called E-Ink). Pretty cool!

Just to piss you off...isn't that how things always work?

The phone you want is on another carrier, the special on the menu you want has run out, etc.

I think the Blackberry qwerty flip looks pretty cool. I'm the same, if my camera isn't a flip I'm always worried I'll accidentally call or text someone by accident!
