why...n95 related...and some questions...

Voice directions, and points of interest. For instance, if the map doesn't know where say, a small tattoo parlour is, and you want to find out because you haven't been there... you'd have to buy to add to the map. Following me?

ic thanks...but i found a forum were the guy had one of the preproduction of the n95...heres what he said "Observations about the phone? Bearing in mind that Nokia only have two of these at them moment

Buggy as hell - but then it was running september software 1.01

Light - very light - especially compared to N73

Camera - again shocking at the moment - shows signs of having a shockingly cheap cmos (that's what I was told)

No sign of GPS

No sign of Wi-Fi

Animated menu icons

Customise the menu layout - grid / list / spinning horseshoe (a bit line the N73 photo gallery

It looks like S40 is dead folks - the menu can be made to look like a S40 phone,so I think it's S60 all the way for nokia

Oh and it had a funny effect on Jay - he disappeared off to the loo after playing with the phone!"

heres the site: http://www.whatmobile.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=400641 (i dont really know if direct linking to other forums is allowed)

he also took pictures with it and man they suck... but like he said its running on the sep firmwere...

what got me is "no gps and no wifi" whats up with that?

Maybe they were just disabled in the firmware?

Personally, I'd rather use TomTom maps on the phone with the GPS. Unlike some other people here, I do not have a data plan. Downloading maps on the fly would get very expensive.

I also like that fact that there is a very big TT community. Adding POIs, speed cameras, etc is very easy to do.

No way! If every Nokia phone was S60, I wouldn't buy one. I'd get so fed up of them being so slow all the time. I need to have a S40 phone so that when I've lost patience with my N80, I have something speedy to use for a while.

ic, s40 is speedy? my experiences with 6270/88801's ui's (especially with the file explorer...plain terrible) were terrible, i guess u must have a good s40 then

Yes the file explorer on those phones was slow, but the rest of the OS was very fast. I tried a 6280 before I got my 6233 and that was very slow at browsing through photos, as was the 6111. The 6233, however, either uses faster hardware, or has some other OS tweaks, and it's very fast in the file explorer.

Basic Ops are generally quicker but I have to agree that accessing files in the gallery and anywhere else are painfully slow....but what isnt bogged down at some point. I've got 2gigs of ram in my laptop and browsing Super high res pics from a Digital SLR was slow.

I still ALWAYS have my 6230 sitting in my car with a car charger for situations when I know I must have a "phone" and not a multi mediblah cpu. emergencies that is

dont really want to start a new thread but is the n95 even pass that fcc test?

hmm...i wonder whats more updated the nseries device copperison (if so looks like there changing bands on us: Triband GSM
(EDGE/GSM 900/1800/1900 + WCDMA 2100 MHz)
WCDMA HSDPA 850/1900/2100 MHz: whats the point of having hsdpa 850/1900 with out gsm850?) or the n95 techspecs (WCDMA2100 (HSDPA), EGSM900, GSM850/1800/1900 MHz (EGPRS))?

S60s have always had the ability to view the menus in "list" mode and I highly doubt S40s are dead as most consumers want a fast user friendly UI which the S40s offer. S40s offer the timeless menus nokias have been famous for and it would be foolish for them to abandon them.
