I installed a new belt on my 1999 Ford F-150 about 3 weeks ago and ever since I installed it, it has beenmaking a high pitched whining noise. i need a way to get rid of the noise..

hi. recheck the path of the belt make sure its not rubbing on anything, and then spray wd40 or belt dressing on the belt( not running) also, check the idler or tensioner , could be dry and squeaking.

Not enough info really, but, it may be the wrong belt you have on
Might be too tight - too loose
Or maybe the Pulley bearing are worn

Belt has been put on too tight is normally the main reason, it is putting pressure on the bearings which make the noise, get this rectified as soon as possible. It could be alignment or something else but that is very unlikely if your car is driving ok (the timing is un affected). By far the most common reason is belt too tight, get it sorted or the water pump/alternator or belt itself will die within a year or so.

Question is way too vague. Did it do this before? Take the belt off and see if it makes the same noise. Maybe you installed it incorrectly or have the wrong size belt. I would take it to a shop and have a professional check it for you.

more than likely the belt is either too tight or loose but with the tensioner on the the belt should be self adjusted... but maybe the belt aint the right one or the tension on the tensioner is pulling to tight or not enuf...
