I bought a cheap $6 box of 12 frozen steaks (it's definitely not steak, it's more like a hamburger patties but somehow they called it "steaks"). I cooked it in the microwave like the instruction on the box says and it tasted a little bitter almost like eating a pharmaceutical drug or antibiotic. I can't say the brand but the package is red. I have never tasted anything like that before, what do you think they put in the steaks?
