i started up My 1978 ford bronco to take it over to the garage once i got it over there i shut it off to work on it then tired to start it and it makes a loud click kinda like a knock and all the lights work it might be my starter but i don't see how a starter can go bad that easily any ideas?

On an older Ford that clicks when you try to start it is usually the starter . Sometimes bad battery cable connections will cause it , but not very often . Yes , a starter can just suddenly go bad . Actually , most of the time they give no warning . It is the nature of mechanical-electrical parts .
