why my amp keeps blowing fuzes?

ok, i have a 2003 nissan sentra and a aftermarket pioneer head unit. and recently i tried puting a amp and subwoofer in but i keep blowing fuze's. i installed a 10 gauge wire to the amp and i grounded a 10 guage wire also and i put the rem wire in the blue with white striped wire but every time i turn on my car i keep blowing fuze's. and the amp i have is a 2400 watt amp for one 400 watt sub.
is it that i need 4 gauge wire?
is my amp to big?
or is it that my power wire needs to be on the opposite side of the car as the other wires?
