Why must people steal?

Russians would send you to Siberia to mine... rarely anyone came back alive.

The idea of offsetting jail cost by doing some hard labor should be common sense; however, it would be impossible to do that in the US (and in the West anymore) due to "inhumane like conditions" which, of course, is complete bulls**t. There is a lawsuit against using lethal injection due to causing pain prior to receiving the liquid...

Yeah, I love it how the victims rights always get fucking trampled.

Oh, poor Johnny only killed that poor lady because his mommy didn't love him. Fucking shits me! 99% of these ACLU fucks have never been a victim of violent crime.

Create Hell on Earth...

What about a dark twisted kind of dungeon torture over a 48 hour period... with removal of interior body parts while still alive. Maybe some lemon juice with razor cuts on the sticky fingers.

It would all have to end with the heart exposed to the culprit while still pumping and a series of little needles poking it as they die!!!!!!

Thieves are empty souls searching for something in the wrong place and feeding off the quality and hard work of others, but to take 4 lives because you are a cowardly fool too, well ITS TORTURE TIME!!!!!

The death penalty doesn't work, never has, never will unless you make it public. So forget that routine now. However, hard labor, though no proof recidivism is lowered, is the closest to equitable repayment to society has long been thought of as harsh. Well, I'm sorry Mr. tree hugging, polar bear saving attorney, since when do we forget about the victim's loss in these cases. I say we attach a dollar value to the crime, an hourly rate for a given job to repay that debt upon society (that way there are choices given to the convict) and have them work it off. If the convict chooses to take an easier job, so be it. If they choose to take a really shyte job that pays better, SO BE IT!! This way, when convict daddy or convict mommy gets out, they can truly say they repaid their debt to society and it mean something of an example to their child. I have but one exception to this rule. If you harm a child, YOU DIE! I have no patience for people willing to mess with a child.

1. Sounds like you need help or too many horror movies...

2. Would not work due to ACLU and alike.

3. I agree with you.

1. You contradict yourself:

"The death penalty doesn't work, never has, never will unless you make it public. So forget that routine now"

[...]

"If you harm a child, YOU DIE!"

2. I completely disagree that "we attach a dollar value to the crime" when murder/death is committed. You are basically putting a monetary value on a human life. If this is really your view, I think you should open insurance agency or start/work at car manufacturing company (hint: research "Ford Pinto" case).

Although Gandhi once said, "Eye for an eye leaves whole world blind," I still think that if murder is committed the punishment should be A) death and/or B) hard labor and/or C) death by hard labor (ACLU and alike that do not agree with either of these solutions should join them as well).

I didn't actually contradict myself; I framed the root cause of it the death penalty not working is that it isn't public and since public execution were banned in the late 1800s by the Supreme Court. Further more, additional restrictions were placed on executions in the 1970s. My personal belief, as a law abiding citizen is that I don't need to see it, but then again, I obey the laws. Call me what you will, a hypocrite or contradiction in my own right, I don't see criminals caring what execution looks like and I feel there would be a desensitizing effect within a couple of generations anyway.

As for a dollar amount on life... its done everyday, called actuarial science, but that isn't even the basis for my argument. The basis for cost on a life is already done in the court system. Sentencing someone to life in prison establishes a cost for that person's life, e.g. the cost to house them indefinitely plus any civil lawsuits with compensatory damages.

In the end, as insensitive as it is, we all uniquely have a worth in the eyes of a justice system. I do find your option C quite funny though.

If I came off as insulting or a smartass, I apologize as that was not my intention. On the other hand, I do not agree or believe that a value should be placed on a human life; however, I do see and understand your point...
