Why: Johnny Yong Bosch should shift more into the anti-hero roles

Okay, it's been a while since I've posted. Apparently, one of my favorite voice actors in anime is Johnny Yong Bosch (across from James Arnold Taylor). As much as I enjoy his voice acting of Vash the Stampede from Trigun, Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach, and Itsuki Koizumi from Haruhi Suzumiya, I think he has been typecasted too much into the bishonen/loud hot-blooded hero roles in anime. I think he should get more into the "cold, dark, cynical anti-hero" roles. Basically for the following reasons:

1) Improving his vocal range: I think having him voicing anti-heroes will help improve his vocal range. Considering the fact the he is the lead vocalist of his band, Eyeshine.

2) Capability: He is quite capable of voicing anti-heroes. Probably the best example would be Lelouch Lamperouge from Code Geass.

3) It is his personal preference: Johnny Yong Bosch stated in his Myspace blog that anti-heroes are his personal preferences.

[xspoilerx='To Aru Majutsu no Index']Apparently, these are the very good reasons why I think Johnny Yong Bosch should voice Accelerator for a To Aru Majutsu no Index dub.[/xspoilerx] Discuss your thoughts about having JYB getting more into the anti-hero role as well as coming up with some anti-hero roles for JYB in anime.

Claire Leonelli of Heat Guy J cemented JYB in my eyes as a villain - a psycho one at that =)
of course anything where jyb is over the top (vash the stampede for example) I typically like. His more subdued roles lack range but the psycho roles he has done have been really good

Ya know I've heard the same voice in Bleach, Dissidia and Haruhi but I'm watching Trigun now and he does sound a bit different.
Wish he did that more often.

Though I love him as Hichigo.

Tell me about it. Out of all the voices I've heard him do I enjoy his Vash the most. I don't like him as Ichigo at all. I think I probably would've liked it more if he gave more reactions like Vash. His Lelouch is pretty good too. I think I'd like to see him with more anti-hero roles, and probably villains too, although I've yet to hear him as a villain. Video games and anime I don't recall hearing him as a villain.

Well, I've heard rumors about JYB voicing Cody for Super Street Fighter IV. Now, I would need to sign up at the Eyeshine forums to ask him that. If that true, them it would be an example of him voicing an anti-hero in video games; as Cody is considered an anti-hero in some retrospects.

Well if you go by his type cast, Renton is the opposite of that. He is the anti anti hero.

But yeah I noticed that too, I thought he would have been a great choice to voice Zuko on Avatar: The Last Airbender if he ever ventured into western animation. I could only imagine how awesome he would be in the season 2 finale when Zuko takes you on an emotional rollicoaster. Has he ever ventured into western animation?

Maybe whiny Zuko, but his kid voice doesn't have the range that an actual Zuko-age actor potentially has.

That's union, of which Bosch can't touch since he's in so many non-union animation roles.

Hmmmmm...Sebastian Michaelis from Kuro*****uji. I think this anti-hero would fit into Johnny Yong Bosch pretty well.
