Why it isn't a moral obligation for all australians to fight poverty (debate)?

yeh we're doing a debate on the topic "it is a moral obligation for ALL australians to fight poverty" and im on negative team. i need some help on ideas that would reinforce my argument. i already got a point that most australians dont have the money to fight poverty because they are having financial problems themselves but i need more points.

Obama and the rest of the marxist/socialists would really love this dingy chic above me!!!
 
A few thoughts that do not in any way reflect my own viewpoint: It's up to the Government to fight the poverty of its citizens - the needy of a country are the responsibility of the Government. That's why we pay tax, so the Government is there to give us what we need when we need it. Therefore, the individuals shouldn't have an obligation to do anything.

And also, if you spend all money on fighting poverty, feeding people, etc, there will be a slowdown in other financial areas - roads won't get built, hospitals will fail, industry will start to go backwards, no advancement in technology and science, and so on.

More to the point, why would it be a moral obligation for us to do that?

Basically, because the woes of the whole world are hardly Australias fault or responsibility.
