I used to be obsessed with pop and hip hop about 2 years ago. Then my dad showed me how i was sort of copying every body elses music taste.
My dad himself HATES r&b and hip hop. He detests it.
I didnt listen to him at first but then last year i was getting pretty into rock music. It started with muse, then linkin park , paramore, then evenescence. Now its things like Killswitch Engage, Young guns, breaking benjamin.
The music and lyrics are amazing. Theyre just so deep and relate to actual serious life situations.
When i tell people that pop, hip hop and r&b dont really mean much most of the time, they get annoyed. But its true. I mean, the lyrics are all about the same thing, love, girls, boys, sex, money, popularity and fame. What the hell.
Why is rock unpopular. Its not right. Dont get me wrong anyone out there who doesnt like rock but doesnt it seem that rock should have more credit than it does at the moment. The lyrics mean something.
So please explain to me why rock music is so unpopular compared to the popular majority of pop, R&B and hip hop.
Clear explanation please and no abusive or off topic responses. Thanks,
