Why isn't my sims2.com custom content showing up in my game?

i downloaded sims from the sims2 website and they show up in bodyshop but not my actual game. i went to settings and clicked enable custom content, but it's as if there is none because the box to show all the CC is empty. why isnt it showing up, how do i fix this?

after you enabled custom content, you need to restart the game. that makes it show up
