Why isn't my phone finding my laptop via bluetooth?

I want to send pictures to my laptop from my phone, but when my phone searches for my laptop, it doesn't find it.. ??
Why can't my phone find my laptop?

The bluetooth on both my phone and laptop are on, and I don't know what else I have to do?

I have a Sony Ericsson 580i and it has connected to other computers before. What's the difference with this one?
