Why isn't my fish eating?

He is a Betta. He just won't eat, I have no idea why. He comes up to get ready to eat, and then he goes down to the bottom of his tank and hides in his plant. Don't say take it to the vet because I don't want that answer and anyone who says "take it to the vet" I will rank a thumbs down.

Any Suggestions?
