Why is Toyota asking the Japanese government for a multibillion dollar bail out?

Toyota is also burning cash as they have asked the Japanese Govt. for $2-$3 Billion. I guess their employee wages and salaries aren't low enough either.
 
They have a double-whammy: 1. the global recession and 2. the spiking strength of the yen. But you are definitely right. Toyota is a Japanese firm: Lifelong employment, benefits till the grave, and cushy salaries and bonuses. Somethings got to give.

They are asking them for the bail out because Toyota is a Japanese company. With cost of living going up, they need to keep up with the economy.
