Why is this plasma TV cheaper by $200 over LCD? Which do u recommend?

I am looking to buy a 42" big screen TV from Dell and they have these two on sale:

Vizio 42" LCD HDTV....... $600 + free shipping
Panasonic 42" Plasma LCD HDTV...... $400 + free shipping

So which one should I get and why?
