ok i know is a bit small 20 gallons salt water set up with live rock(about 4 pounds) and sand. i also have the filter which is for up to 20 gallons(i think the filter is my problem) i had just water for about a month then i ran the Bio filter for about 24 hrs and then i added one little damsel(blue yellow tail) he survived for like three days so i bought another 3 damsel(two of the same blue/yellow and a three dot black damsel) and a cleaning shrimp in like five days after two fish died i ran a test and ammonia level was high so made partial water change i got some ammonia lock from API or whatever is called it seemed to locked the bad ammonia but then the shrimp died its been more than two months and ammonia still high very high at 4 i believe.(shouldn't the filter be establish by now? i do partial water changes about every two weeks.. now i keep on using the ammo lock i'm afraid the fish could die with out it... and because i though that maybe it was just reading good ammonia that perhaps wasn't the harmful type so I bought another 3 damsel, one died the same day another one died like 4 days later and the third one as i write is floating facing up(alive but like out of it) so i just added some more ammo lock... I really would like to own and maintain a healthy and beautiful peace of nature like that but I'm not sure what is it that i'm doing wrong any help would help thanks God bless u all...
