Why is there a media blackout of the tea parties?

Did anyone attend a tea party today? Ours isn't until next Saturday. I've noticed a massive media blackout today and what stories I have found, were extremely brief with very few actually refering to the turnout numbers. Why is there a media blackout? Was the Independence Day tea party a flop or is it something more sinister - is the media truly afraid of the tea party movement (including Fox News who is ignoring the tea parties today)?

Welcome to reality.

There have been protests going on every year since before Bush invaded Iraq; these protest are worldwide and the largest in history. IGNORED
A million women marched on Washington, - IGNORED
Protesters were arrested BEFORE both the Democrat and Republican conventions in total violation of their first amendment rights - IGNORED
There are more, but you get the picture...

It's the new reality, everyone is happy with everything, no need to think there are any dissenters, we're all one big happy country here.

Because the media wants everyone to believe that the tea parties are massive failures with zero attendance. If they do show anything it will be the one person making an ass of themselves and they'll paint the whole demonstration in that light.

Yes, the government is afraid of any threat to its hidden agenda to control the population, and the tea party movement shows independent thinking and spirit.

the blackout is because all your editors are progressives. socialist, etc. also they actually buy into the ignorance spewed by idiots like garafolo "this is about hating a black man in the white house" when clearly it isn't about that. and even if it were, he isn't black. he's approx 40% arab, 50% anglo saxon and the rest black.
AND yes, regardless of the motives, it IS sinister.
yes. i did.

It's in our media, but this is Republican territory.

Unfortunately, I missed it because I thought it was in the evening and it was at noon. It only lasted one hour.

We had a bit of disagreement over having it today (there are many multi-generational families living in this community with plans for the day). Looks like your community chose a better day for it. I hope you have a great turnout!

trying to put a number on attendance at events like that is very subjective. and really it's not clear what these tea parties stand for. it's a vaguely defined movement whose spokesman is Joe the Plumber. so, some people gathered at a park and carried signs or listened to speeches. it's not a big news story.
