I am not talking about client confidentiality but the secretiveness among many groups. Some even make you take an oath of secrecy. Why? I am just wondering. I have always shared my methods and theories, of course I never revealed my clients but have shared my theories and methods with those interested.

Simplest explanation is because there is nothing to discover. No offense. Now before you go and tell me I have a closed mind I want to point out that I do not Disbelieve in the paranormal...but you see, even the word is misleading, isn't it? If something operates within our universe then it is natural. It follows laws of physics, even if we do not understand those laws.
Frankly I seen demonstrations of intense magnetic fields causing people to believe they were abducted and placed on a mountain looking at the moon.
It's like scientology, the Oaths are there to prevent the knowledge of what's really going on from leaking and spoiling their chance at recruiting.
