the debate over same-sex marriage? I had to re-post this question because people were not answering. Why should GOVERNMENT be in the Business of marriage? My thoughts are below. What are YOUR thoughts?
Why should the government give special rights just because they have sex with someone and it's government approved? You may argue that well all those insurance "rights" that come with having a governmental marriage. My (other) gay uncle can't get married in the state he lives in but since he works for Microsoft, he does not need a document from the government to have his partner of 15 years covered.
My lesbian aunt and her partner run a Coffee shop. They offer their employees HSA's and you know who loves their plain the most? The gay and lesbian employees. I talked to "Jake" and he claimed "Me and my partner spend a hell of a lot less money if your aunt put me on insurance."
I would like to mention before anyone starts with any straw man bullshit is that I believe state laws that don't allow private companies not offer any benefits to same-sex couples is wrong. That is a perfect example of forcing one morals on another, which is evil.
I hate to sound like a *mild* conspiracy theorist but don't you think it is strange that this valid argument get little to no attention in the media? Why not let people define marriage as THEY want it not what other people or the government wants to define it? Is because both conservatives and progressives want the state in our personal life's? I think so.

Sorry, I am not a Ron Paul nutjob. He is a sellout for joining the republican party. If he were to leave the Republican party then yes, fuck yes. I would be a proud Ron Paul nutjob.
